Dale Buwalda

State Program & Government Relations Director

Dale Buwalda joined the Foundation in January of 2008. As State Program & Government Relations Director, Dale helps coordinate the Foundation’s efforts to prepare target states for the introduction of school choice.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Dale served as Regional Political Director for the Indiana Republican Party. In this role, he served in a consulting capacity to various GOP organizations and coordinated grassroots voter contact programs for local, state and federal candidates.

Previously, Dale worked in law enforcement serving several years as a surveillance officer tasked with monitoring high-risk juvenile offenders for the Tippecanoe County Juvenile Drug Court and the Community Corrections Juvenile Alternatives program. In this role, he worked to provide the court and local schools with viable alternatives to the incarceration of delinquent youths through the use of intervention, mediation, supervision, and education services.

Dale remains committed to the successful rehabilitation, education and re-entry of offenders and volunteers his time serving on the Indianapolis/Marion County Community Corrections Advisory Board.

A native of Lafayette, Indiana, Dale attended Purdue University and studied Political Science. While at Purdue, Dale served on the Editorial Board for the American Undergraduate Journal of Political Science and is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society. Dale is a 2007 graduate of the Hoosier Congressional Policy Leadership Series and is a member of the 2008 class of the Indiana Leadership Forum.

Being a good 'Midwesterner', Dale can often be found, Bible in hand, at College Park Church or embracing the 2nd Amendment out on the range.

Dale currently resides in Indianapolis with his wife, Erin.
