For 2013, we are hosting a luncheon to celebrate Friedman Legacy Day and we are focusing again on school choice with our keynote speaker, Georgia State Sen. Alisha Thomas Morgan. Morgan was an NAACP organizer before seeing the success of charter schools in her home state. During the 2013 legislative session, Morgan visited Kentucky to testify before the Senate Education Committee in favor of school choice. Because of her testimony, a charter school bill moved out of committee this past legislative session. We will once again invite our collaborative partners on the school choice issue in Louisville, KARE (Kentucky Alliance to Restore Education) a coalition of black pastors and parents.
