This is the first hour of a debate on school vouchers held by the Delaware Valley Americans United chapter on September 24, 2011, at First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia PA. http://dvau.org/?p=678
DVAU President Ed Joyce delivers the opening introduction. The debate participants are: PA State Senator Anthony H Williams, a co-sponsor of SB-1, will attempt to defend his legislation with the help of Leslie Davis Hiner, Esq., VP at The Foundation for Educational Choice, who has been called "the nation's leading voucher advocates" by the Wall Street Journal.
Debating the voucher proponents and giving arguments against voucher programs are Burton Caine, Professor at Temple Law School, representing the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania (ACLU-PA) and Americans for Religious Liberty, which advocates for the separation of church and state; and Marc Stier, Executive Director, Penn Action, who works with individuals and coalitions on statewide campaigns to strengthen social, economic, and health security for all Pennsylvanians.
