Richard and Rita of Iowa

Richard and Rita are raising two grandsons, and thanks to the STO Program in Iowa they are able to give them the education in an environment that best fits their needs.

Richard and Rita are grandparents raising two grandsons, Dimitrious and Donovan. Despite the difficulties involved in raising two boys, the couple is happy to be caring for them. However, they were worried about their boys’ education and the environment they were being exposed to in their Des Moines public schools.

Richard and Rita wanted their boys to attend St. Anthony's School. Unfortunately, they knew they would not be able to afford private school tuition for their grandsons. However, the staff at St. Anthony's informed Richard and Rita about the School Tuition Organization (STO) program in Iowa. The program provides tuition and scholarship grants to families in need of financial assistance. Richard and Rita applied for a tuition grant through the Catholic Tuition Organization of the Des Moines Diocese, through a simple and easy process. They were quickly granted financial aid, and that enabled them to send their boys to St. Anthony's. Soon after that, they enrolled their boys at the school and Dimitrious and Donovan began attending classes at St. Anthony’s.

St. Anthony's is providing the boys with the extra attention needed to keep them on the right track. Richard and Rita believe that St. Anthony's disciplines students effectively while cultivating respect among them. In addition, the grandparents appreciate the religious freedom their boys are offered at the school. They also believe that the boys receive more individual attention and have more opportunities for field trips and other extracurricular activities than they would at public school.

They two boys love their school and are looking forward to bright futures. Dimitrious hopes to become a lawyer one day, and Donovan wants to be a doctor. Thanks to the atmosphere and academic standards at St. Anthony's, their dreams are looking very realistic.

Overall, Richard and Rita are very pleased with St. Anthony's. They believe that the school offers their boys the best chance at a good future, and they are thankful for the STO program because it offered their grandsons an education that meets their needs on several levels and offers freedoms and opportunities that would not be available to them otherwise. They hope that more families will be given the chance to use school choice programs like the STO in Iowa.
