Communications and Content Associate

Position: Communications and Content Associate 

Purpose: As a member of the Communications Team, the Communications and Content Associate is responsible for overseeing the production of EdChoice research and other content, including its flagship publication, The ABCs of School Choice. The Communications and Content Associate works to amplify EdChoice content to new and existing audiences through media outreach, email marketing, and audience-specific content creation. 

Supervised by:  Vice President of Communications  

 

Core Responsibilities:  

Publications Management  

  • Manage the EdChoice editorial and production calendars, driving project timelines with internal staff and external vendors to meet deadlines.  
  • Shepherd the production of flagship EdChoice content and publications, including The ABCs of School Choice. 
  • Copy edit EdChoice content and ensure publications are free of errors and released on schedule. 

 

Content Amplification 

  • Amplify EdChoice publications (studies, monthly polling, reports, etc) by writing blogs, op-eds, press releases, and emails. 
  • Advise on social media strategy and content for research and publication products. 
  • Ghostwrite various content.   
  • Collaborate with other EdChoice teams to develop and implement strategies to distribute EdChoice content more effectively to existing and new audiences. 
  • Manage email and newsletter content to promote publications, including research and ongoing content. 
  • Support the implementation of email engagement strategies to grow subscriber base and increase engagement with EdChoice. 
  • Advise on content others in the organization can create to achieve communications goals, including but not limited to podcasts, videos, social media campaigns, emails, and various collateral.  

 

Qualifications: 

Education and Experience 

  • 2-4 years working in a project management role. 
  • Experience working in a communications department or related field is preferred, but not required. 
  • Demonstrable experience managing projects that span multiple months. 
  • Skilled in Adobe, Excel, Word, Microsoft Office and similar applications. 
  • Experience working with a remote team a plus. 
  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience.

  • Meticulous attention to detail. 
  • Strong written and verbal communicator. 
  • Self-starter, proactive employee who takes initiative, especially in terms of understanding organizational culture and becoming part of team. 
  • High desire to execute strategy. 

 

This role can be based in Indianapolis, Indiana, or remote. Remote applicants should be willing to travel to Indianapolis regularly. Regardless of location, applicant may be asked to travel a few times a year.
