EdChoice on oral arguments in Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue

INDIANAPOLIS—EdChoice, a national nonprofit organization that promotes state-based educational choice programs, released the following statement from Vice President of Legal Affairs Leslie Hiner regarding oral arguments heard today at U.S. Supreme Court in Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue:

“Today at the U.S. Supreme Court, attorney Dick Komer urged the Court to view parents participating in school choice programs as ‘free and independent decision-makers’ empowered by the state ‘to exercise their right to choose and direct their children’s education’, and to rule that the state should not exclude religiously affiliated schools from a parent’s options.

“EdChoice applauds Mr. Komer, a long-standing friend and defender of families in the school choice movement, for brilliantly defending Montana parent Kendra Espinoza and other families in Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue.

“EdChoice is proud to support Mr. Komer and the Institute for Justice in defending families; you can read our amicus brief here.”
