Utah

Utah offers K–12 students and their families several types of school choice, including three private school choice programs, charter schools, magnet schools, home schooling and inter-district and intra-district public school choice via open enrollment.

Private School Choice

Utah has three private school choice programs: a voucher, a tax-credit education savings account (TCESA), and an education savings account . These programs help families send their children to participating private schools. The ESA program provides families extra flexibility by allowing them to use program funds on more than tuition, including education therapies and more.

Public School Choice

Utah has inter-district and intra-district open enrollment policies, which allow some students to transfer to traditional public schools outside their zoned school. Utah also has magnet schools.

Charter School Choice

Utah has some charter schools. Charter schools are publicly funded schools that are free of many of the regulations that restrict traditional public schools.

Home School Choice

Parents have to follow certain laws in Utah when homeschooling their children.
