Vermont

Vermont has one private school choice program, a town tuitioning program. These programs help some families who live in towns that don’t have district public schools to receive funding to pay tuition at a neighboring town’s public school or a private school of their choice.

Vermont has inter-district and intra-district open enrollment policies, which allow some students to transfer to traditional public schools outside their zoned school. Vermont also has a few magnet schools.

Vermont is one of the few states that does not have charter schools, which are publicly funded schools that are free of many of the regulations that restrict traditional public schools.

Parents have to follow certain laws in Vermont when homeschooling their children.
