The U.S. Virgin Islands territory has two school districts operated by the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Education. The St. Thomas/St. John School District consists of 11 elementary schools, three middle schools and three high schools. The St. Croix School District consists of 10 elementary schools, three middle schools and three high schools. There are also at least 12 private schools operated by religious denominations and private entities. As far as we know, no local legislators have ever proposed an educational choice program.
